German Florists’ Association / FDF

Lobby and expert committees
The FDF Trade Association of German Florists is the official national lobby of German florists. On 18th September 1904, the German Florists’ Ass was founded in Düsseldorf as an association of German flower shop owners. Its objective then was and still is promoting the trade and its public image, as well as preserving and further developing floristry culture. To pursue this objective, the FDF represents the floristry trade in dealing with political, commercial and public institutions.
The German Florists’ Ass. – Federal Association - is the umbrella association, to which fifteen state associations are affiliated as regional bodies. Its registered office is located at FloristPark in Gelsenkirchen. Management and staff are led by a Management Board consisting of four members, with the President as Chairperson.
The Association’s task on the national level is to represent and promote the general interests of the trade.

FDF-Executive Committee
FDF co-operates closely with important institutions of the industry, such as Fleurop AG. Fleurop and FDF consider each other as partners and/or sister organisations with a large common membership. This is also expressed by mutual representation in their respective management boards. The national President of FDF holds a seat on the Management Board of Fleurop AG, and the President of Fleurop is a member of the Executive Committee of FDF.
The Executive Committee consists of the chairpersons and/or deputy chairpersons of the state associations. The general managers of the state associations are also present at Executive Committee meetings and submit recommendations to assist with the decision-making process.
The Executive Committee decides on the admission, status and exclusion of members. Moreover, decisions are made about the rights and duties of extraordinary members, the admission of honorary members and the approval of budget exceedances. The Executive Committee is also vested with nominating power for appointments to expert committees.
